What's painted on the card

Alone in a wide desert, a young man on the 1909 card stands still. His tunic is patterned with small salamanders, curling lizards that seem to wriggle across the cloth. He holds a tall wand with green shoots and tips his head back to look up at its top, as if he has just noticed it is alive. He isn't going anywhere yet. He is simply fascinated. The empty land around him is open space, and he seems to be wondering what he could do with it.

Page of Wands upright

The Page of Wands brings a burst of curiosity. Something has caught your interest: a hobby, a place, a career idea, a person, a subject you suddenly want to learn everything about. You don't know where it leads, and that's part of the fun.

This card often carries news. It can be a message that excites you, an invitation, or the first hint of an opportunity. Pages are beginners, so the news is usually about the start of something, not the finished result.

As a person, the Page of Wands is lively and full of ideas: a young person, a student, or anyone of any age who throws themselves into new things. They're fun, honest and bold, if not always reliable. When this card points to you, it asks you to let that part out. Try the thing. Ask the questions. Be a beginner without shame.

Page of Wands reversed

Reversed, the Page's excitement scatters. You may start lots of things and finish none, or feel bored with everything and unsure what you want. Ideas come and go before they have a chance to grow.

It can also show news that's delayed, or a plan that sounded great but lacks direction. Choose one interest and give it real time. Curiosity grows into skill only when you stay with something past the first rush. As a person, the reversed Page can be someone full of big talk and new plans who rarely follows through. Enjoy their energy, but count on what they do, not what they say.

In love

Upright

In love, the Page of Wands brings flirting, playful attraction and new crushes. It can point to someone young at heart who is fun but still finding their way. In a relationship, it's a call to bring back play and adventure.

Reversed

Reversed, attraction may be shallow or short-lived, or someone is keen one week and distant the next. Enjoy the fun, but don't build big hopes on mixed signals.

How someone feels about you

This person is curious about you and excited by you. The Page of Wands shows early interest: they want to know you better, and they may flirt or message with real enthusiasm. It's a young, light feeling, more fascination than commitment. Whether it grows depends on whether they move beyond the first rush.

Career and work

Upright

At work, the Page of Wands points to a new interest, a course, an internship or the early stage of a creative project. Exciting news about a job is possible. Bring your curiosity and be willing to learn on the way.

Reversed

Reversed, you may feel restless or unsure what direction to take, jumping between ideas. Pick one and test it properly before moving on.

Money

Upright

With money, the Page of Wands can show a new idea for earning, often from a hobby or creative interest. It's early, so start small.

Reversed

Reversed, watch for impulse spending on new enthusiasms that fade quickly. Before buying the gear for a new hobby, try it cheaply and see if the interest lasts.

Yes or no

Leans yes. The Page's eager energy tilts toward yes, above all for trying something new. Just remember that the result is still at an early stage.

The card's advice

Follow what excites you. Explore with an open mind, and give one idea enough time to become real.

Questions about Page of Wands

Does the Page of Wands mean news is coming?

It often does. Pages are traditional messengers, and this one brings exciting or inspiring news, like an invitation, an offer or the first sign of an opportunity. It doesn't say exactly when. Reversed, the news may be delayed or less exciting than hoped.

Why is the Page of Wands looking up at his wand?

He seems to have just noticed that his wand is alive, with green shoots at the top. That look of wonder is the heart of the card. It's the moment you realise an idea or interest has real life in it. The Page hasn't done anything with it yet. He's simply amazed, and that amazement is where every adventure starts.

What is the difference between the Page and Knight of Wands?

They wear the same salamander tunic, which tells you they share the same eager spirit. But the Page is still standing in the sand, studying his wand, while the Knight has jumped on a horse and gone. If you drew the Page, you're at the curious, learning stage. Action comes next, and there's no need to rush it.
